Hybrid PBX and IP-based Phone Systems
We support a host of major phone systems—from Avaya, NEC, Panasonic to Toshiba— and are a certified Panasonic dealer for both a traditional PBX system,
as well as a true IP-based VoIP system. The beauty of these systems lies in
their very extensive feature set (over 800 features) and their mix-and-match
capabilities. Each system can mix analog, digital and IP phone sets to match
almost any application. Also, each system has extensive functionality
built-in for incorporating branch offices, work-at-home employees and other
We spend a great deal of time understanding all your requirements, so we can select the system and functions that are exactly what you need.
The Phones Become the Network
If you are considering an IP-based telephone system, it is important to
understand these systems are more data systems than phone systems. Unlike a
traditional PBX system, a VoIP system puts a significant burden on your data
network, and requires specific equipment and configuration to ensure
everything is running properly.
Many traditional telephone service companies lack the skills to properly
install and maintain a VoIP system. Andromeda Technology Solutions excels in
all aspects of voice and data, and will ensure you get the system that is
right for you.
Whether Cloud-based, Hosted/virtual PBX, or completely on-premises, we have the knowledge AND experience to guide you and implement your voice communication system to perfection.

Last month we brought you the first portion of a three part blog series dedicated to enhanced phone features and what they can do to enhance your business. If you missed it, please check it out here. As we mentioned in our first article, your phone system can and should do a whole lot more than simply ring. There are many features that can make your day to day simpler as well as more productive. Today we area going to focus solely on hunt groups and their functionalities.
Phone Features: Hunt Groups
A Hunt Group is a collection of users, typically users handling similar types of calls, e.g. a sales department. An incoming caller wishing to speak to Sales can ring one number but any number of extensions assigned to that Hunt Group can answer the call.
There are several styles of Hunt Group and each phone system has different options. For the purpose of these examples we are going to use an Avaya IP Office phone system and the phone features available. If you would like to learn more about the different Hunt Groups available on your specific phone system, feel free to reach an Andromeda rep at (815) 836-0030.
There are more extensive features available as well such as “Assign Call On Agent Alert” that allow for overflow or after hours call forwarding features such as night service/out of service modes. If you would like to learn more about these specific features or want to discuss how they can fit into your daily operations don’t hesitate to reach us. Feel free to fill out a contact us form or give us a quick call.

The internet may be the first place a prospect or client turns to find your services but picking up the phone and dialing your office remains the number one method of contact for business.
But what happens if nobody is available to take the call?
Hopefully you have a professional voicemail set up to receive messages.
For prospects trying to reach you, response time is critical. The moment a prospect calls in and leaves a voicemail there is a strong chance that they will move on and call your competition as well.
So – how do you get a step ahead of your competition and get messages into appropriate hands when time is of the essence?
You contact your technology partner and have them install Enhanced Voicemail features on your system.
Enhanced Voicemail Features
What is Enhanced Voicemail (VM)?
In a nutshell, Enhanced VM points to features and programming that makes your messages more accessible. This takes your VM system to the next level and gives you a competitive edge in the marketplace.
There are many different enhancement features for VM systems but two stand above the rest and are more commonly used in businesses across marketplaces.
Voicemail to Email
Probably one of our most requested VM enhancements is Voicemail to Email.
This feature converts a VM in your mailbox to an .mp3 or .wav file (audio) then delivers it to your email inbox.
For example, imagine you have an outside sales rep that rarely comes into the office – without some kind of enhanced alert system, the sales rep has no way of knowing that a new prospect just left an important message on their VM.
Instead, you want to alert your sales rep the moment a prospect or client leaves a message for their extension. You don’t want to wait until they check their voicemail at the end of the day to respond to important messages.
With VM – Email, an email is sent to the sales rep right after the message is left with a convenient recording of the message. Your staff is able to handle requests/questions within minutes, prospects have a better experience and you’re a step ahead of the competition.
Voicemail Transcript technology takes the audio message someone leaves you and translates it into text. The text is then sent to either your email inbox or your cell phone.
This type of email enhancement means you can check messages on the go without interrupting a meeting or being physically present at the office. Most importantly, these features provide an almost immediate alert that you have a message waiting.
No more delayed responses due to staff members not knowing about their messages or forgetting to check their messages regularly.

Karanbir Singh (a program manager at Microsoft) is on a mission:
Kill the password.
As he said in a recent blog post:
"Nobody likes passwords. They are inconvenient, insecure, and expensive. In fact, we dislike them so much that we've been busy at work trying to create a world without them--a world without passwords."
The company's stated goal is to make it possible that an end user will never have to bother with passwords on a day to day basis and would instead provide credentials that are virtually impossible for hackers to crack or breach.
To accomplish this goal, the company is looking at a number of options, including biometrics and multi-factor authentication schemes.
Singh notes that this isn't just blue-sky thinking, either. Already, more than 47 million users and more than five thousand businesses are utilizing "Windows Hello for Business." Another solution currently in use is the Microsoft Authenticator app, which allows users to access their Microsoft accounts via their smartphones.
Additionally, as part of the Windows 10 update issued in April (2018), any user with a Managed Service Account or Azure Active Directory can now access their Windows 10 PC without having to enter their password, via the authenticator app and Windows Hello (provided that S-mode is enabled).
The company is also taking advantage of the newly ratified Fast Identity Online (FIDO2) security protocol, and is in the process of updating Windows Hello to enable secure authentication across a wider range of scenarios. For example: The company is currently working on a proof of concept for shared PCs that will allow users to log on via FIDO2 security keys, which will allow employees to carry their credentials with them.
They envision a scenario in which any user can simply walk up to any device the organization controls and authenticate without ever having to enter their username or password. This would be especially useful for analysts, help desk personnel, and anyone working in the medical profession.
Obviously no firm timeframes have been given, but as mentioned, some of these technologies are already in use and will be refined in the months ahead.
