For those of you following this series, this is the third and final installment of a 3-Part Series: Enhanced Phone Features For Enhanced Business. If you’re just tuning in, make sure to check out part 1 & part 2. In the last two articles we’ve covered twinning and the different functions it has in your office as well as hunt groups and the multiple forms they come in. Both of these features can increase communication within your organization as well as productivity. In this final article we are going to dive into two more enhanced phone features: Queuing and Hot Desking.
Enhanced Phone Features: Queuing
Queuing allows calls to a Hunt Group to be held in a queue when all extensions in the group extension List are busy.
For example, when you call your local pharmacy and direct your call to the pharmacist, you are placed in a specific call queue for that department. That is a combination of the hunt group and queuing feature.
When an extension becomes free, the queued call is then presented. Queue limits can be set so that only a certain number of callers can be in line at any one time. While queuing, a caller can listen to a recorded message or be directed to leave a voicemail for call back if this is configured in your system.
Enhanced Phone Features: Hot Desking
Hot Desking allows multiple users to use the same extension on your phone system. Every user is assigned their own identity so they can receive calls and can access their own Voicemail as well as other functions.
For example, your outside sales staff who visit the office infrequently can be provided with telephony and Voicemail services without being permanently assigned a physical extension. This is also a valuable tool for remote workers. If you have employees in multiple states etc., they can still have a physical extension.

- Your system is 10+ years old – Congratulations! Your system has served you well. Older systems probably don’t have parts in production or programming updates being rolled out which puts you at risk of a failure with no fix.

Are you a Pokemon Go fan? If so, we've got bad news.�Beginning in October of this year (2020), your game will stop working on older Android and iOS devices.
Support is officially being discontinued for Android 5, iOS 10, and iOS 11. Additionally, the company is ending support for the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 6.�If you're using any of the above, you'll need to upgrade either your OS, your equipment, or both.
Niantic, the company that makes the wildly popular game, didn't offer up a specific reason for ending support on the equipment and Oss mentioned above. However, one can safely assume that it's probably related to an upcoming feature the company knows won't run on those systems.
In any event, if you're a fan and you want to keep access to the game itself, the items you've collected, and to your PokeCoins, you'll need to upgrade before mid-October of this year.
Concurrent with the end of support warning, the company also announced three weeks of Mega Evolution-themed events in the month of September:
- A Mega Pidgeot event that is slated to run from September 1st through September 7th
- A Mega Houndoom event that will run from September 11th through the 17th
- A Mega-Evolution Timed Research story event that will run from September 22nd through the 28th.
So sure, you may have some upgrading to do, but the reward is that you get three supremely cool week-long events. You'll be well positioned to keep right on enjoying the game into the future. What's not to like about that?
Kudos to Niantic for giving their playing base plenty of time to respond to the change, and for making one of the most iconic games in recent history.
